Hire QA and test automation engineers in Latin America

A QA engineer finds the problems before your users do. Boecia Talent finds senior QA and test automation engineers in Latin America for companies in the US and Europe. You only pay when you hire.

What a QA engineer does

A QA engineer checks that your product works the way it should before each release, and builds the tests that keep checking it afterwards. The work mixes careful manual testing with automated tests that run every time the code changes.

  • Writes test plans and test cases from requirements and designs.
  • Tests new features by hand, including the edge cases developers miss.
  • Builds automated tests for web, mobile and APIs.
  • Runs those tests in the CI/CD pipeline on every change.
  • Reports bugs with clear steps to reproduce them, and checks the fixes.
  • Tests performance and basic security when the product needs it.

Skills to look for

A strong QA engineer thinks like a user and like an attacker, and writes test code that is easy to maintain. These are the skills to check.

  • Test design: equivalence classes, edge cases and risk-based testing.
  • Browser automation with Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.
  • API testing with tools such as Postman or with test suites in code.
  • A programming language for tests, such as TypeScript, Python or Java.
  • Mobile testing on real devices and emulators, with Appium or similar tools.
  • Working in CI/CD and reading logs to find where a failure starts.

Interview questions that show real experience

Ask about bugs the engineer found and test suites they built and kept running. These questions show whether someone has done QA on a real product.

  • Tell me about the most important bug you found. How did you find it?
  • How do you decide what to automate and what to test by hand?
  • Walk me through a test suite you built. How did you keep it from becoming slow or flaky?
  • How would you test a sign-up form? Which cases come first?
  • A test fails only sometimes. How do you find out why?

Good answers explain how they chose what to test and which risk each test covers. Answers that only list tools, with no bugs or examples from their own work, are a warning sign.

Manual QA, automation or SDET?

A manual QA engineer explores the product and finds problems a script would miss. A test automation engineer writes the code that repeats those checks on every change. A software development engineer in test (SDET) is a developer who builds test frameworks and tools. Most product teams need someone who can do both manual testing and automation, and most senior QA engineers have done both.

Why Latin America for QA work

QA works closely with developers: a quick question about a bug, a check before a release, a new test after a fix. Engineers in Mexico City, Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo work within two hours of New York time all year, so they are online when your team is. See the time zone comparison.

How we help

Tell us about the role. We speak with each engineer about it before we share their profile, and you receive a shortlist of vetted engineers. You only pay when you hire, and if the hire leaves within 90 days, we find a replacement for free.

Questions companies ask

Can one QA engineer cover web and mobile?

Often, yes, especially when the web and mobile apps share the same API. Ask which devices and tools they have tested with, and make sure the role description lists both.

Can the engineer work as a contractor?

Yes. Boecia Talent recruits for contractor and full-time roles, and each role says which one. The company hires the engineer directly or through an employer of record or contractor platform such as Deel or Remote; Boecia Talent never employs the engineer. More in contractor or employee in Latin America.

Do I pay anything if I do not hire?

No. Companies pay Boecia Talent only when they hire someone it introduced. The fee depends on the role and is given in the quote before any work starts, and a hire who leaves within 90 days is replaced for free.
