Hire AI developers and engineers in Latin America

Boecia Talent finds AI, machine learning, data and backend engineers in Latin America for companies in the US, Europe and Latin America. You only pay when you hire.

Why hire AI engineers in Latin America

Hiring AI engineers in Latin America gives a US team a shared working day. Mexico City, Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo are all within two hours of New York time all year, so calls, code reviews and fixes happen on the same day. See the full time zone comparison. Hiring rules differ by country; see the guides for Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.

  • Daily calls and same-day code reviews are normal, because your working days overlap.
  • Boecia Talent introduces engineers who interview and work in English with teams in the US and Europe.
  • You can hire as a contractor or as a full-time employee, depending on how your company works.

Which AI role do you need?

"AI engineer" can mean very different jobs. Getting the title right is the fastest way to reach the right people.

  • LLM engineer. Builds product features on large language models: retrieval, prompts and tools, evaluation, cost and latency. See hiring LLM engineers.
  • Machine learning engineer. Trains, tunes and ships models on your own data, for things like recommendations, forecasting or computer vision.
  • MLOps engineer. Gets models into production and keeps them healthy with deployment, monitoring and retraining. See hiring MLOps engineers.
  • Data engineer. Builds the pipelines and the warehouse that every model depends on. See hiring data engineers.

If your first AI hire has to cover several of these, say so in the job post, and look for someone who has shipped a model or an LLM feature from start to finish at a small company.

What to look for in a senior AI engineer

A senior AI engineer has shipped models or LLM features to real users and can explain what they measured, what broke and what it cost. These five signals separate production experience from demos and courses.

  • Production experience. They can walk you through something they shipped, what broke after launch and how they fixed it.
  • A habit of measuring. They talk about evaluation sets, baselines and error analysis before they talk about which model to use.
  • Care for data. They ask where the data comes from, how it is labeled and how it changes over time.
  • A sense of cost and speed. They know what a feature costs per request and how to make it cheaper or faster.
  • Clear English, written and spoken. Remote teams run on written updates, design documents and code review comments.

How to describe the role so good engineers apply

Senior engineers receive many messages. The ones that get answers are specific:

  • the problem the person will own in the first months,
  • your stack, and which parts are set and which are still open,
  • the hours they need to overlap with your team,
  • contractor or full-time, and the pay range,
  • who they will work with and who they report to.

How it works

Hiring through Boecia Talent takes four steps. You describe the role in a short call or through the form. Boecia Talent speaks with each engineer about the role before sharing a profile. You receive a shortlist, interview the engineers and decide. You pay only if you hire someone Boecia Talent introduced.

  • Tell us about the role in a short call, or through the form.
  • We speak with each engineer about the role before we share their profile with you.
  • You receive a shortlist of vetted engineers, interview them and decide.
  • You pay only if you hire.

What it costs

You only pay when you hire. The fee depends on the role, and we give it to you in the quote before any work starts. If the hire leaves within 90 days, we find a replacement for free. There is no upfront fee, and the shortlist is free.

Questions companies ask

Do I pay anything if I do not hire?

No. Companies pay Boecia Talent only when they hire someone it introduced. The fee depends on the role and is given in the quote before any work starts, and a hire who leaves within 90 days is replaced for free.

Can I hire a contractor instead of an employee?

Yes. Boecia Talent recruits for contractor and full-time roles, and each role says which one. The company hires the engineer directly or through an employer of record or contractor platform such as Deel or Remote; Boecia Talent never employs the engineer. More in contractor or employee in Latin America.

Do you also recruit outside Latin America?

Yes. We also recruit in Eastern Europe, for teams that work on European hours.

What do you need from me to start?

A short description of the role. You can send it through the form or tell us in a call.
